1997 – 2004 Buick Regal GS and Grand Prix GTPs with
3.8 liter super-charged V-6 engines

Oil can leak from the engine onto the manifold, causing a fire. Do not park your vehicle in a garage until this is fixed. GM said the problem has already caused 267 fires and 6 injuries. Number of vehicles in recall: 207,542.

2005 – 2007 Cadillac CTS and STS sedans, 2005 – 2007 Cadillac SRX crossovers, 2006 – 2007 Pontiac Solstice, and 2007 Saturn Sky convertibles
Fluid leak can cause driver to lose control of the vehicle. Seal on rear axle pinion does not meet specifications. Number of vehicles in recall: 275,936.

1999-2000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks
Defect:  tailgate cables can corrode and break, slamming onto people. Repairs involve replacing the cables. Number of vehicles in recall: 900,000.  (Another earlier recall due to the same defect involved about 4 million Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Avalanche and Cadillac Escalade EXT.)

2002-2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL,
2003 Isuzu Ascender

Defect: Road salt corrodes rear-door latches, which stick or fail to hold. Door may fall, striking anyone in its path. Repair: Replace latches. Number of vehicles in recall: 98,000. Note: This recall is required only in states with wintry driving conditions where the use of road salt is common.

2003 Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero, Pontiac Grand Am
Defect: In hot weather, accelerator pedal sticks. Can cause a severe crash. Repair involves replacing accelerator and brake pedals. Number of vehicles in recall: 93,000.

2004-2005 Cadillac XLR, 2005 Corvette
Defect: Brakes may fail. Can cause a severe crash. Fluid in brake lines overheats, brake lines may also wear through. Repair involves removing worn brake lines, repositioning the lines to avoid wear and overheating. Number of vehicles in recall: 5,200.
