Defect: Fuel pump modules and powertrain control modules can fail and cause engine to stall without warning. Repairs involve reprogramming the modules.

2007 Chrysler Sebring
Defect: Hood latch may break and allow hood to fly up while car is being driven, obstructing the driver’s vision. Repairs involve replacing the hood latch.
Number of vehicles in recall: 2,200.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokees equipped with 4.0 liter, 6-cylinder engines
Defect:  cooling fan blades may break and fly off and strike people if the hood is open. Repairs involve replacing the fan module.  Number of vehicles in recall: 150,000.

2005-2006 Mercedes-Benz C-class sedans
Defect: air bags may fail to inflate properly in a crash. Problem became evident during government crash-testing of vehicles. Repair: replace air bag inflator modules.

1998-2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK
Defect: Left and right rear brake lights fail. (Center lights not involved in recall.) May increase risk of rear-end collision. Repair: replace rear brake light modules.

2000-2003 Dodge Durango SUVs and Dakota pickup trucks
Defect: Wheels may fall off, causing a crash. Repairs involve replacing ball joints on the suspension. Number of vehicles in recall: 600,000.

2001-2002 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan,
Chrysler Voyager and Town & Country

Defect: Fires may make vehicle burst into flames, causing serious burn injuries or death. Repairs involve applying tape to radios to keep moisture from causing a short-circuit in vehicles with base-level radios. Number of vehicles in recall: nearly 240,000.

2005 Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus sedans
Defect: Seat belts may loosen, allowing belted passengers to be injured in a crash. Repairs involve tightening bolts on rear seat belt pillar anchorages.
Number of vehicles in recall: 8,000.
