Ford Stalling Defect

"Recall: Action could cost Ford at least $125 million"

"Consumer groups applauded the judge's decision, contending stricter standards are needed to make sure automakers respond to safety concerns. 'It's very significant, and the question is…can our institutions protect us from these giant corporations? And that remains to be seen,' said Rosemary Shahan, president of the Sacramento-based Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety. 'Ford is going to fight this tooth and nail. And it's a new thing for a state to order a recall. Clearly, a recall is what's needed. The state is stepping in where the federal government fears to tread.' "

"Judge Orders 1.7 million Fords recalled over alleged ignition defect"

"If anyone driving these vehicles has stalling problems, 'I would advise people to get it fixed first,' and then bill Ford later if the courts uphold Ballachey's decision, said Rosemary Shahan, president of Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety in Sacramento. "
